“The sort of prompt that I was going from was just, like, a reflection. And so just sort of taking the idea of reflecting and sort of going through that. When I start a painting, I’m really just like, ‘what needs to come through? What needs to be brought forth? What do I need to take from thought, from feeling, and put it into articulate it through painting and through the visual?’ And you know, for the past few months, every time I’ve sat down and done that, I end up with green pastures next to an ocean. And so there’s something significant there about why I always have this impulse to sort of imagine that sort of landscape and bring it to life over and over again.” – Maya Pavik
